Hayterville, Texas

About

Haytersville (pronounced High-der) is designed to tell the story of Arlington, Texas’ past, present and future. The site’s namesake, the Rev. Andrew S. Hayter, was a Presbyterian minister who helped develop the original town plat. Because of his assistance in directing the Texas and Pacific Railway through the most peaceful route, engineers wanted to name the new train station Hayterville, Texas. The good reverend declined, saying his name was not good for a town, as it was often pronounced incorrectly.
